Add Maple

About Us

The dream was to build a data tool that gives data insights first, not last. Now it's a reality.

Welcome to AddMaple - where data meets speed, intuitive UI, programming automation and aye aye AI! We're a small-but-mighty team driven to make data analysis accessible and enjoyable.

We're Intentionally Self-Funded!

To understand any organization's motivations, it's good to follow the money! So here's the lowdown on our funding model. We're intentionally self-funded! Why? Because we'd rather let our users, and their satisfaction, dictate our direction rather than investors who may not always have our users' interests in mind.

We'd rather keep our pricing affordable.
We'd rather offer generous academic discounts (50% off).
We'd rather give our subscribers the flexibility to pause or cancel without any hoops to jump through!
We'd rather paint the web pink because, why not?

This self-funded model allows us to be happier and forces us to deliver on our promise. We are here to empower anyone with a dataset and a curious mind to get answers from their data, fabulously FAST!

Our Journey

AddMaple began because of frustration, plain and simple.
Ange our founder worked in UX and product research and she saw firsthand how difficult it often was to extract insights from data spread out within departments across the business.

The data was either

  • ⛔️ difficult to access
  • ⚡️ contained within a live-wire spreadsheet that could be overwritten or broken (brain #NUMB! #WasItMe?)
  • 🥺 at the mercy of the data team’s existing workload

There had to be more than the stale-but-almost-useful dashboards *Darren set up 4 years ago?

The vision was set - democratize data analysis, make reports explorable and unforgettable, and banish unnecessary complication and meh-looking charts and tables! Make data analysis fast, fearless and fun. No #errors. No risk of data loss. Keep the raw data intact on a user's system as one unit of unedited wholesomeness.

How have we built this? One release at a time alongside fellow founders who have a knack for sharing good memes over at 🍜 Ramen Club. We're not alone in being self-funded and avoiding the ongoing VC hype-and-distraction cycles.

What we prioritize

Feedback

We value each individual or team who tries AddMaple and appreciate all the questions, feature requests and bug reports. Because it means we've met people who care as much as we do about accessible data analysis, so please send us that email with your ideas.

Empowerment

We build our features with the aim of empowering the people who do data analysis. And we believe that tools need to speed up and simplify the process all together so that more people feel confident analyzing data. The more people feel confident exploring data, the more insights they will naturally extract from the valuable data resources their organization holds. We keep the UI intuitive, so that insights lead the exploration journey, not formulae, code or other distractions. That's why we kickstart every data exploration journey by transforming all columns in a dataset into summarized tables and charts.

Collaboration

At AddMaple, our aim is to keep things simple. No buzzwords, no jargon. We bring people with varying levels of data skills together in a tool that does the heavy lifting so that everyone can feel curious and confident to understand data. We use engineering, data science and automation so that the calculations are accurate, while using AI to assist with natural language interpretation of the numbers. Letting engineering do what it does best, and sprinkling in AI in a way that is useful, contained and in-check.

Agility

Our small size is our superpower. It allows us to move quickly, adapt to changes, and maintain a close-knit relationship with our users. We can’t say we have all the answers but we can share one "strategy" that works for us. When an existing backlog becomes bulky and unwieldy, we move it over to an archived-for-later-reference backlog, acknowledge that we can always find the golden nuggets we left behind if we need it, breathe a sigh of relief, and start afresh with a new nimble prioritized backlog of validated most-important-and-urgent development work.
